It was tourture! That fucker with his damn 13 pound road bike was flying around while I'm trying to keep up. Oh and on a side note saw a kickass Pontiac GTO The Judge! I heard it coming from about a mile away before it passed us! God those things are pretty!

I would definitely consider getting a lightweight-ish roadbike if you plan on regularly doing +20 mile rides. My grandpa passed down his 12lb road race bike to me, and it is FANTASTICALLY easier than pedaling a 40-60lb steel-frame bike around!

Oh yeah! My bike weighs about 30-40 pounds (never officially weighed it) however it's a really good workout! I can ride 20 miles easy however that's mostly at 10 mph and on mostly flat ground. However I'm planning on getting a Tarmac in April and after riding this monster around I'll be ready to do races!

Thats actually a good plan. I started on a 35ish pound steel road bike (1970's Prince) and moved to a 19lb triathalon. There wasnt much training, just flying.

I kept the Prince to keep riding on occasion, but its tough time riding it now.

That sounds a lot like my brother, flying along when I'm trying to keep up on a much heavier bike. It usually happened when I had younger kids that were in a kids seat on the back of my bike. "Yes, Martin, my 25lb son does make me a bit slower going down the road. Thanks for asking". It was a hell of a work out though, something I should get back to doing.

Until you get a road bike.... buy a set of slicks . It will make a HUGE difference.
